C’mon Baltimore. Let’s Suz-ercise! exceeded all expectations for MAP’s first public art performance project. Miami-based artist Susan Lee-Chun and choreographer Gio Profera worked with a high-energy team of certified Suz-ercisers from Baltimore to prepare a choreographed fitness routine. The artist’s three selves—Su, Sue and Sioux (also known as The Suz) designed the team’s gold lame and black spandex fitness wear and their weightless weights especially for Baltimore’s hot summer days.
On June 23, 2010, a day when the thermometer registered 96 degrees, the team marched from Maryland Art Place to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to perform their perfect formations beneath Mark di Suvero’s towering sculpture.
What exactly is Suz-ercise, you ask? According to The Suz, it’s about coming together to pursue their idea of ultimate happiness and fulfillment. Baltimore’s Suz-ercisers reached for their fitness dream and earned their certification online.
