MAP joins the Contemporary Museum, the Carroll Museums, the Reginald Lewis Museum, the Walters Museum and Maryland Institute College of Art to present the work of Brooklyn-based artists McCallum and Tarry. The couple is known internationally for their highly researched, culture-specific work about race and social justice. MICA’s Exhibition Development Seminar takes the lead in facilitating this important mid-career retrospective.

Out of Order: April 9, 2010
Thank you, Baltimore! To the benefit of MAP, 308 artists participated in Out of Order 2010, our annual Do-It-Yourself exhibition and silent auction event. The party was stellar and close to 40% of the art sold. Proceeds from sales will be split 50/50 between the artists and MAP, with MAP’s share going directly to support our year-round free programming. |

Grace Hartigan: A Memorial Tribute
Grace Hartigan (1922-2008), a celebrated Abstract Expressionist painter, bequeathed five exceptional paintings to Maryland Art Place (MAP) in 2009. MAP honors her gift in a special 2010 exhibition at The Ritz-Carlton Residences. Select events will celebrate Ms. Hartigan’s legacy as a painter and mentor for aspiring contemporary artists. The Hartigan Gallery also features Athena’s Daughters 2010, an exhibition of work by artists who studied with Ms. Hartigan. Participants are Mina Cheon, Heather Barone, Allyson Smith, Jessica Damen, Lauren Sleat, Nicole Barrick, Elizabeth Wade, Dana Riefler Amato, Gloria Adams, Courtney Jordan and Sandra Parra. |

Emily graduated from Muskingum College in 2002 where she double majored in Art and Business and minored in French. Now, she is working to finish her thesis project for an Arts Administration M.A. degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. |

MacKenzie graduated, magna cum laude, from Maryland
Institute College of Art with a BFA in 2009. While pursuing a career in
arts administration MacKenzie continues to develop her work in the studio
as a multi-media artist. |

Katherine Fahey
Katherine is an artist who is
fascinated with the combination of the natural and man made world. As the daughter of a cartographer, she is greatly influenced by the process and product of map-making. She is a collector; her process involves gathering imagery from her surroundings in order to investigate the influence of visual information on a viewer’s subjective perception of reality.
