6th Annual Curators' Incubator Program
EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 5pm, January 18, 2008 (Postmarked or hand delivered)
Maryland Art Place (MAP) is proud to announce a call for proposals for the Sixth Annual Curators’ Incubator. This program was developed to encourage diversity and mentor mid-Atlantic emerging curators (with limited or no previous curatorial experience), while offering a flash-point look at contemporary art in our community. Participating curators will gain experience and significant exposure through the development of their proposed exhibitions. Successful completion of a two-phase application process will result in candidates being selected to mount an exhibition and contribute their curatorial writings in a published catalogue. The exhibition is scheduled to take place September 16-October 28, 2008. Candidates are invited to submit a completed application as described on the attached form, no later than Friday, January 18, 2008.
A small number of curatorial semi-finalists (comprised of either individual curators or curatorial teams) will be selected, with the expectation that curators meet with MAP’s staff and Programming Advisory Committee to provide more in-depth detail about their intentions and goals. Curatorial finalists will fully develop their exhibition and publication materials and present their proposals to the Committee for final consideration in spring 2008.
